The "Gift of Life" believes realization of its mission requires a multi-pronged approach that includes contributing to the advancement of local medical professionals.

Annually, we host a complimentary continuing education Health Forum at the Montagne Center of Lamar University in Beaumont. With the Jefferson County Medical Society as co-host and through the commitment of conference partners, the Lamar University Department of Nursing, the Dauphin Cancer Screening & Prevention Center, and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Academic Sponsor, the yearly event attracts approximately 600 healthcare professionals and nursing students.

Conference content is designed to target Southeast and East Texas physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, nursing students, and other medical personnel. The primary goal each year is to enhance the existing knowledge of local health professionals through lectures presented by highly regarded M. D. Anderson Cancer Center medical personnel, outlining the latest innovations in cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and after care. By expanding participant knowledge about cancer, this forum seeks to contribute to a more informed and effective healthcare delivery system in Southeast Texas.

The 7th Annual Health Forum, slated for October 5, 2006, will focus on smoking cessation and prevention, the first time a conference of this magnitude on the subject has been held in Southeast Texas.
